Michael Gault, Artist
Michael Gault is a professional award winning artist, who has resided in Colorado for almost 30 years. He has a BFA from the Kansas City Art Institute and a MA from the University of Missouri, Kansas City. He has taught workshops as well as college courses on painting, drawing, printmaking, plein air, design, computer graphics, art appreciation and art history.
His primary art process of choice is oil painting. His traditional training came with a passion for all things landscape, although still-life & portraits have been a prominent part of his journey. In recent years Gault has developed his non-representational skills with a pursuit & focus of utilization of light, color and space.
Michael's gallery exhibitions began early in his career and has continued and grown with representation in Missouri, Kansas, Colorado, California, Arizona, Illinois, New Mexico, Florida, & Wyoming. He has participated in plein air shows and competitions, and won numerous awards throughout the years. He has collectors throughout the United States as well as internationally.
Michael is a member of Oil Painters of America and Pikes Peak Plein Air Painters.
Michael was a co-founder of the organization in 2003. The group initially met in his home and consisted of a professional group of oil painters that lived throughout the Pikes Peak Region. Michael currently serves as co-chairman for the group which is focused on painting en plein air and promoting plein air art and plein air artists. Michael is a member of Oil Painters of America and is currently exhibiting in the 2024 OPA National Juried Show being held at James R Ross Fine in Indianapolis, IN. To check out OPA click on the button below.
Michael is a member of the PAAC group and is planning to submit to the group's 27th Annual National Show that will be on exhibition November 1 through December 31 of this year.
Michael first joined Woodland Park, CO's Mountain Artists organization 28 years ago. The group is active in the area and will host its 39th Annual Mountain Arts Festival in August of 2024. The festival hosted over 100 artistic vendors in 2023. Plan to join us!
Michael is a member of this newly organized organization and will be teaching in the DAPP School this fall. The group is committed to making the Pikes Peak Region, Teller County and Woodland Park, CO a Destination for Art.
